Rest Days

Foreign Domestic Helpers - Rest Days

Foreign domestic helpers are entitled to three types of leave, one of which is the rest day:
Workers are entitled to at least one rest day per week, which can be any day of the week, including Monday to Friday. The day of rest should be agreed upon by the employer and the helper. Generally, helpers choose to have their rest days on Saturdays or Sundays so they can gather with their fellow countrymen or go to church. If a domestic helper voluntarily works on their rest day, the employer must pay them an extra day's salary. You can use our website's daily wage calculator to calculate this amount. Note that employers are not allowed to force domestic helpers to work on their rest days.
